De.xx (Mathew) is a producer, DJ, painter, and multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges sound, movement, and visual abstraction. Born in the Bay Area to Lebanese roots and now based in Los Angeles, his artistic identity sits at the crossroads of culture, memory, and experimentation.

His creative journey began early—at thirteen—when he was introduced to the global underground through figures like Osunlade, Rich Medina, and Louie Vega, shaping his palette with deep house, ancestral rhythms, and soulful percussion. Those early influences evolved into a lifelong exploration of world music, texture, and sonic storytelling.

Relentlessly dedicated to craft, Mathew has spent years refining his sound and visual language. His painting practice—spanning over 100 works under Mateu.studio—mirrors his approach to music: instinctive, layered, emotional, and raw.

As De.xx, he has released debut album MAKTUB ON Yoruba Records, marking his entry into the deeper lineage of global house culture. He is also the co-founder of Neon Ranch Records, a label and community platform dedicated to pushing forward-thinking dance music and multidisciplinary art.

Now deeply embedded in the Los Angeles scene, De.xx has been involved with events across the city—curating, performing, building spaces, and shaping culture from the inside.

For him, sound and art are not separate forms — they are one expression, one pulse, one continuous ritual.
